Main tasks of the EEAC Network

The EEAC Network as a knowledge exchange platform

The complexity of a transition towards a more sustainable Europe, which addresses the environmental, economic, social and cultural dimensions of sustainability necessitates numerous systemic transitions. The complexity of such transitions requires holistic, cross-silo and cross-border solutions. Consequently, cross-border exchange among advisory bodies and other stakeholders is vital. In the light of this required exchange, the EEAC Network offers an operational framework for dialogue and informed debate among various stakeholders and disciplines.

The EEAC Network as an operational platform for inter-council cooperation

With representatives from academia, civil society, the private sector and public bodies, the EEAC network brings together experts with long experience of issuing independent advice. Within the network, these experts pro-actively share their experiences and perspectives. They strive to be mutually supportive, to learn from each other, and to respect and promote viewpoints that transcend national perspectives. The cooperation aims to enrich the advice that individual or consortia of advisory bodies can give to their governments and parliaments.

The EEAC Network as a liaison

The EEAC Network also serves as a liaison between the work of the national and sub-national councils and the work at European policy level. The network deploys activities to help its members to be informed about ongoing or forthcoming policy developments at European level that are of relevance to the councils’ work. It also actively brings the work performed by its members to the attention of relevant European, and in some cases, global partners.
