Food systems and land use
The Working Group on Food systems and land use consists of representatives from different national and regional advisory bodies which have longstanding experience on food production and consumption as well as land use.
Through communication and coordination, as well as the combined knowledge, expertise, and resources of its members, the working group is able to address a number of relevant issues with regard to both food production and consumption as well as land use .
The Working Group is currently Chaired by: CADS & Rli
The Advisory Council for the Sustainable Development of Catalonia (CADS) and the Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia (Diplocat) will host the ‘Feeding on Future’ International conference on food systems in Barcelona on 10-11 October 2019. This conference will bring together relevant experts to debate the future of our food systems to deliver inclusive, sustainable and resilient societies. The conference is organized with support of the EEAC Network.
The first day of the conference (10th of October) is an internal day. Members of CADS, the EEAC, the Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia (Diplocat) and representatives of the Catalan Government are invited to attend this first conference day. The program of the first conference day includes a visit to the Barcelona wholesale market (Mercabarna), the Baix Llobregat Agrarian Park, and the day will be concluded with a private meeting (by invitation only).
The program for the second conference day (11th of October) offers a whole morning conference including relevant speakers, who will introduce some recent reports on the transition towards sustainable food systems. Among the speakers are members of EEAC Member and Partner Councils and the European Economic and Social Committee’s Sustainable Development Observatory.
