Dr. Jürgen Janssen is the Secretary-General of the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE). He holds a degree in agricultural engineering and earned a doctorate in market research and food trade. After a period working as a market researcher and consultant for the automotive industry and other sectors in Germany and Southeast Asia, he joined the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in 2009. In 2011, he assumed responsibility for the German network of the “UN Global Compact,” the United Nations initiative for sustainable and responsible corporate governance. He later headed the Secretariat of the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles and other GIZ activities in the fields of sustainable supply chains, green economy, and corporate responsibility.
