In this letter, the EEAC councils submit their input on the upcoming Rio+20 conference to two European Commissioners, Janez Potočnik and Andris Piebalgs. It focuses on sustainable development and green economy, and highlighting our contributions to the preparatory process.
The EEAC advocates for a closer cooperation between environment and development policies, pushing for an ambitious "Green Economy roadmap and toolbox." The network also urges the Commission to revitalize the EU Sustainable Development Strategy by involving national advisory councils and civil society in shaping its future, expressing support for a stakeholder conference on Rio+20 organized by the EESC.
